Epoch Youth Project: 2020

About The Event
Youth ages 12-23 are invited to join us in a collaborative performance creation process and workshop. The project combines contemporary dance and theatre to explore themes that are relevant and important to youth participants. With the facilitation and mentorship of professional artists Kelly McInnes, Sophia Wolfe, Laura Avery and Red Fawkes, youth participants are invited to experience the artistic process involved in the creation of performance. Goals of the workshop are for participants to develop dance and theatre skills, learn communication tools for collaboration, to take creative risks using imagination and embodiment, to build a sense of community and to explore important issues within our society.
The project creates a space where youth feel empowered to share their stories and perspectives. In addition to the in-studio creation process, there are performance opportunities throughout the season which allows participants to share with their community. These include showings culminating each session, The Roundhouse's Youth Week, LINK Showcase and often others as well. Honorariums are paid to the youth whenever possible. The project is free of cost and snacks are provided at each session. No experience is necessary!
